In the 1600s, Europe needed luxury products, like spices, so Queen Elisabeth I of England sent the British East India Company, a trading company that controlled all trade between England and Asia for more than 100 years.
MONUMENT
The Taj Mahal, located in Agra, India, is one of the world’s most celebrated architectural gems. It was built between 1631 and 1648 by commission of the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in honor of his favorite wife, Mumtaz Mahal, who died in childbirth of their fourteenth son. The project was led by architect Ustad Ahmad Lahauri, with the collaboration of a team of craftsmen and designers from different regions of the Islamic world. It belongs to the Mughal style, of Islamic influence.
